Mt. Ararat Meets a WWII Veteran

It was a real highlight to meet Wayne Nichols Sr. at the WWII memorial this morning. Mr. Nichols was visiting the memorial for the first time with his son Wayne Nichols Jr.

Mr. Nichols joined the war effort from his home in Chicago. He entered the Navy and served in the Pacific rim as far south as New Guinea and north as Japan where he was stationed in Okinawa when the atomic bombs went off in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He was part of the team that escorted the US occupational forces into Japan. He came back home in 1946.

Thank you Mr. Nichols!
